NEXT WINDOW FOR TRAINING APPLICATIONS WILL BE 6TH – 31ST MARCH
Keep watching out for more info on this, There will be an opportunity for under 40’s on an eligible farm/ forestry business to access 5 training courses in a year, rather than 3. Still only 1 per year in Machinery and Equipment.
You will need to update your PDP, we can help with this, to reflect new choices for training. This can be done NOW, but the application form itself won’t be available TILL MARCH 6TH.
JUNE WINDOW OPEN – FARMING CONNECT FUNDING.
THE JUNE FARMING CONNECT FUNDING APPLICATION WINDOW IS NOW OPEN.
APPLY NOW FOR AUTUMN TRAINING
You can apply for 3 courses a year, and only one can be machinery and vehicles. The June window is the last of this funding year, the next year opens in September with an October window. If you apply for a machinery and equipment course now in June, you can apply for another in October. Similarly you can apply for 3 in June, and then you will have the choice of another 3 then from October on.
Complete your online PDP (Personal Development Plan). We can assist you with this, you are welcome to arrange an appointment, or we can assist you with our help guides, or talk you through it on the phone. There are PDP CLINICS being held with Farming Connect staff all over Wales, check the website https://businesswales.gov.wales/farmingconnect/training for your local officer details and these clinics.
SOUTH WALES- PESTICIDES TRAINING
Apply in June for
Level 2 award in the safe use of pesticides- boom sprayer (PA1 & PA2)
Course running Sept 12th and 13th / 12th and 14th .
RODENTICIDES – RAT POISON New “stewardship conditions“will appear on labels of rodenticides, requiring those that purchase and use them have been on an approved Training course. These labels are being introduced from April 2016, and Training will be a requirement for users from June 1st 2016 . BUT, as an interim measure, if you are member of a farm assurance scheme, FAWL, Red Tractor, that membership will permit you to purchase and use these products until the end of December 2017.So Training needs to be undertaken by December 2017 if you wish to use Rodenticides on the Farm. Lantra Awards has a new course that is recognised as an approved Training course by CRRU- Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use. Cost is £165 plus vat

- Simply The Best Training have a stand at rally day, the Farming Connect funding window is open in June, so we will be there to assist you in completing your personal development plans in order to access training.
- REGISTERED? Bring your CON number and password with you.
- NOT REGISTERED? RING 08456 000813 and Provide an e mail address for all the family members that will want to apply. (each person has to have a different e mail address). You will receive a CON number and password before rally day, bring them with you.
- There is different eligibility now which means that forestry businesses, smallholders with more than 3 ha, and some contractors will now qualify.
- We are guessing that most members will be busy all day, but for mams and dads that are chauffeuring, watching, stewarding etc, come and have a chat and get your PDP started.
- Simply the Best is sponsoring ATV training for non – farming members of Glamorgan YFC .
- We are also running dates for Welfare of Animals in Transit Tests on a weekend- half price to all paid up members, and mams and dads.
