THE CURRENT SITUATION
After 26th November 2015, it will be an offence for anyone to purchase Pesticides (Plant Protection Products PPPs) authorised for professional use unless they have ensured that the intended end user has a certificate. If you don’t already have a certificate, you will need to get one by 26th November 2015 so that you can continue to use PPPs as part of your job after that date.
A current exemption in UK law, commonly known as “Grandfather Rights”, allows anyone born before 31 December 1964, to use Plant Protection Products (PPPs) authorised for professional use on their own or their employer’s land, without having to hold a certificate of competence) (although they should still be suitably trained and competent for the job.) The Plant Protection Products (Sustainable Use) Regulations 2012 allows this exemption to continue until 26th November 2015, after which date everyone who uses PPPs authorised for professional use must have a certificate.
There is a grandfather rights qualification, but in our opinion, it is not going to be quicker, or easier than the full qualification and we would anticipate many more failures, but if you want to ring up for a chat about it, please do. Easiest option? Send your kids !!!

HOW WE DO IT AT STB
Our Instructor is here for 3 days. Day 1 PA1 training. Day 2 is usually PA2 training, Day 3 is usually PA6.
You will need to attend day 1 and whichever day is your choice, PA2 or PA6, 9am to 5pm.
The following week you will return for an online computer test, you will need to be here for 1-2 hrs., but we can be flexible on time of day etc. You then will be timetabled for your assessment 3-4 hrs. when our assessor is here that week. Again we can be a bit flexible over that about timings .
We charge £695 plus vat per person for PA1 AND PA2, or PA1 AND PA6 .
That covers 2 accredited training days , workbooks, (you will get certificates of training), registration with NPTC, the online test, the practical test, use of tractor and sprayer at our venue (It may be possible to have assessor come to you).
Many providers will only quote you for each chunk – we quote the whole amount.
Other providers may be cheaper, but compare like for like – often there is no accredited training, and assessment can be done by in-house salaried staff. We employ top notch trainers and assessors on a day basis. They are Simply the Best! You can fail, but we do have a very good pass rate.
It is a very demanding course, but if you have special requirements we will accommodate them.
