PESTICIDES TRAINING

Since 2015, the purchase of Pesticides (Plant Protection Products/PPP’s) can only be done for professional use provided the end user has a certificate of competence. There is now no such thing as Grandfather Rights.

What is the training?
The new qualification is a LEVEL 2 AWARD. Pesticides training is often described by its historic acronym from NPTC- PA1,PA2 PA6 ECT.

STEP 1

SAFE USE OF PESTICIDES(PA1) – THIS IS MANDATORY
The training is accredited: Lantra Awards Safe Use of Pesticides.

TAKES ONE DAY AND IS FOLLOWED BY A LANTRA MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST

STEP 2

BOOM SPRAYER(PA2)
The training is accredited: Lantra Awards – Use of Boom Sprayer.

THE TRAINING IS ONE DAY AND IS FOLLOWED ON ANOTHER DAY BY A LANTRA PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT (HALF DAY)

KNAPSACK SPRAYER(PA6) – HAND HELD APPLICATOR – HYDRAULIC NOZZLE.

The training is accredited by Lantra Awards – Use of Knapsack, Handheld Applicator

THE TRAINING IS ONE DAY AND IS FOLLOWED ON ANOTHER DAY BY A LANTRA PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT (HALF DAY).

HOW WE DO IT AT STB

We run most pesticides courses here at Caerlan Farm, but we can run them at your location for a full course of 6 clients- we can discuss this with you. If you are an individual booking onto an open course it will be here at Caerlan Farm.

Our Instructor is here for 3 days. Day 1 SAFE USE training. Day 2 BOOM training Day 3 HANDHELD training.

You will need to attend day 1 and whichever day is your choice, BOOM(PA2) or HANDHELD(PA6), 9am to 5pm.

The following week you will return FOR YOUR PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT , but we can be flexible on time of day etc. You then will be timetabled for your assessment (3-4 hrs) when our assessor is here that week. Again we can be flexible with timings .

We charge £795 plus vat per person for: SAFE USE(PA1) AND BOOM(PA2), or SAFE USE(PA1) AND HANDHELD(PA6)

That covers 2 accredited training days , workbooks, (you will get certificates of training), registration with LANTRA for safe use paper based test, the practical test, use of tractor and sprayer at our venue (It may be possible to have assessor come to you).

Many providers will only quote you for each chunk – we quote the whole amount.

Other providers may be cheaper, but compare like for like – often there is no accredited training, and assessment can be done by in-house salaried staff. We employ top notch trainers and assessors on a day basis. They are Simply the Best! You can fail, but we do have a very good pass rate.

It is a very demanding course, but if you have special requirements we will accommodate them.
