Our Delivery Model

We can deliver this either as a Face to Face course, or by Remote delivery.

It is Farm focused– you get a spreadsheet that you can use or customise to your own farm business. It is often beneficial for couples to attend, rather than just the person who does the bookkeeping.

FACE 2 FACE TRADITIONAL – relaxed and informal style, questions welcomed throughout.

Pan Wales. We run this for about 4 -8 people in a venue local to you- usually a pub, hotel or community hall. We start about 9.30 with Tea and coffee, and stop for lunch at 12.30. We aim to finish by 3pm. Slight adjustments can be made for school runs etc. we will let you know if a light lunch is provided or you need to bring a packed lunch.

The afternoon session is a practical exercise, work in pairs, where you “do the books” for a beef and sheep farmer called Ivor Goodfield. We then go through the exercise together.

You receive a comprehensive workbook, handouts, and a copy of the slides.

After the course I e mail you a master copy of the spreadsheet

REMOTE DELIVERY -VIA ZOOM – relaxed and informal, can do taster session beforehand.

You will need Access to a pc with a webcam or laptop or tablet. If that is not possible, a smart phone will work, but you may want to use a holder of some sort so you don’t have to hold it all the time. Prior to the course we will send you a e mail with the link to the course. On the day of the course you just follow the link. Prior to the course We will also POST out to you a pack, which will contain hard copies of workbooks , handouts etc needed, so you will not have to print out materials, or try and access them on the pc during the course

Session 1  zoom session,10am – 12 noon. Break Off screen 12-1.30 for the Ivor Goodfield activity  as well as a cuppa and lunchbreak etc. Session 2   zoom session, 1.30-3pm where we can go through “homework” address questions, and discuss.

BOOKKEEPING VAT AND MTD COURSE

Given the ongoing restrictions- Farming Connect do not allow face to face training currently until the end of Jan at the earliest, and realistically end of feb is more likely- and then with March and April Lambing for the majority,

WE DO NOT  REALISTICALLY ENVISAGE BEING ABLE TO HOLD FACE TO FACE TRAINING UNTIL MAY 2021.

What we suggest is : –

You can decide whether you want to wait for May to late summer and attend face to face

Bookkeeping VAT & MTD – Remote Option

We have delivered this several times now remotely, and it is proving popular.

Once the date is agreed, we MAIL YOU a course pack in the post  so you have all manuals, handouts you need for the day, so you don’t have to worry about looking at them on screen, or printing them out etc. I will send you also an excel spreadsheet.

I will send 2 zoom invitations, one for the session 10 am – 12 noon, and another for 1.30 to approx. 3pm on the same day.

From 12- 1.30 you will have an exercise to complete – off screen- so nothing to distract you, and the chance for a cuppa and a bite to eat.

At 1.30 session, I will go through the exercise with you and discuss what and why etc.

There will be an opportunity to react, ask questions, talk to each other in much the same way we would in a face to face session.

You will have a choice of dates, and it doesn’t matter which date you choose, all we ask is that you let us know the date at LEAST A WEEK BEFORE to allow us to get the pack in the post to you.

(If you want it sent to a different address than the farm business registered – let us know~)

If you haven’t used zoom before , quite happy to have a 10 minute session with you on your own before the day, so you know how it works- it is pretty user friendly. (If I can use it……….!!)

Its raining ! Mae hi’n bwrw glaw ! a paperwork day is a good option today- Have a look at the courses available, APPLYING now WILL MEAN THAT YOU WILL BE APPROVED END OF MARCH. THEN YOU HAVE TILL NEXT DEC  TO COMPLETE TRAINING.

As things covid wise are changing constantly, we are looking to deliver business courses remotely as an option. key message – APPLY NOW- We will sort out HOW we get them delivered after ! check out our newsletter and future delivery plans

This means we have the summer ahead for outdoor courses, and we know the virus doesn’t like heat and fresh air. Hopefully there will be many more improvements in the situation by then, which will give us the ability to return to safe face to face training. But we will be able to offer the business courses as a  Remote option then as well.

So to anyone applying now, it looks likely they will have the option of choosing remote or face to face options, so the message from us is :

APPLY NOW – we will work something out !

All business courses

Our preference is still to run face to face courses, with all covid measures in place,  where possible, but given the new rise in cases, we are developing remote delivery strategies as a realistic option.

What would be useful then when you are approved is to establish your preferences , which will we do in our initial contact.

The advantages of remote are of course that geography doesn’t matter, and we do not have to restrict numbers on courses, we can give a wider availability of dates, we may offer more on weekends! On a separate note we are investing is Instructor development, and are working towards getting a Welsh first language Instructor in machinery ,based in North Wales.

Business coursesall one day duration

Face to face we run them 9.30 to 3.30 which suits school runs etc. with smaller numbers we will be able to adjust timings to suit the needs of the group.

Half and Half  If face to face is possible next year, we are already planning the use of pre course work of things that take time in a group situation such as questionaires activities, case studies etc, so we can cut down the length of time of the face to face encounter as it were, effectively making the course half a day face to face and half a day self study, which can be an effective compromise. We will call these half and half courses!

Remote- Sitting in front of a screen from 9.30 to 3.30 with half hour for lunch we feel is a bridge too far. We envisage holding a 2 hour session in the morning, say 9.30-11.30, followed by a gap where you so some “work” on what we have covered in that session, followed by another session starting at 1. 30 that day. We feel that is better to avoid screen fatigue.

  • We will introduce as much interaction as possible during screen time, so you still benefit from the group experience.
  • I have always been a firm believer that you can learn a lot from each other.
  • I will be happy to take questions just as I do in face to face sessions.

We will not be moving to a fully digital impersonal experience.
